It is the UN World Oceans Day on 8 June and this edition explores how we can protect ourselves, by protecting our oceans. Around 3 billion people depend on the oceans for their livelihoods – with women making up around half of the small scale fishers and over 70 per cent of the aquaculture workforce. We continue to pollute and mine our oceans – which generate half our oxygen and absorb a quarter of our greenhouse gas emissions The edition shows what we can do to support our oceans, protect the livelihoods of millions of women – and save the coral home of this beautiful clownfish.
